Hi, I'm Amanda,
I'm a positive reinforcement-based trainer based in South Sydney, but more importantly I specialise in something many trainers don't: supporting families where children and dogs live together. Because when kids are involved, dog training isn't just about the dog. It's about the whole family.
My journey into dog training started back in 2016. I began working as a dog walker and also in dog day care and I found myself wanting to understand more - why dogs behaved the way they did, what their body language meant, and how I could better support them, especially the ones who struggled. That curiosity turned into a passion, especially when my own dog "Jazz" came into my life. I began studying behaviour, body language, breed traits and the science behind positive reinforcement. The more I learned, the clearer it became: the way dogs behave is their way communicating their feelings and most "problems" are misunderstandings.
Over the years, one thing has become clear - families with children need a completely different approach to dog training.
Children can be unpredictable and interact with dogs in ways adults don't. Dogs respond differently around children too.
As a Kids & Dogs Specialist, I help families understand both sides of the relationship.
Safety doesn't happen by accident. It happens through education, understanding and support.
When kids understand dogs and dogs feel understood - life becomes easier and safer.
I believe in setting families up for long-term success by building knowledge, empathy and realistic strategies that work in busy homes.
As a Sydney dog trainer specialising in kids and dogs, I look at the whole family - not just the behaviour you're seeing on the surface.
Because every member of your family, including your dog, deserves to have their needs understood and supported.
If you're ready to build a safer, more peaceful life with your family dog, I'd love to support you.
You don't have to figure it out alone.
