About Me

Hi! I'm Amanda, owner of Take My Lead Dog Services in Sydney.  

I'm a positive reinforcement dog trainer based in Sydney helping people build calm, confident and rewarding relationships with their dogs. While I support dog owners from all walks of life, I specialise in helping families create safe, respectful relationships between children and dogs.

My approach is simple: understanding comes before training.

When we understand why dogs behave the way they do, training becomes easier, communication improves, confidence grows, and life with their dog becomes far more enjoyable.

My journey with dogs began working in dog daycare, where I quickly realised that not every dog thrives in the same environment. Some loved the excitement, while others found it overwhelming. That insight shaped Take My Lead, which started with personalise dog walking for dogs who needed a more individual approach and naturally expanded into training and behaviour support.

Everything changed after working with a family who had brought home a puppy to help their young son overcome his fear of dogs. I realised real success comes from supporting the whole family, not just training the dog. That led me to specialise in children and dogs through The Family Dog and KAD (Kids Around Dogs). Whose child-friendly, safety-focused philosophy aligns perfectly with my own.

At home my two dogs continue to be my greatest teachers.

Jazz, my Border Collie cross, taught me the value of building a strong relationship based on trust and communication.

Scout, my energetic Kelpie, challenged me to become a better trainer. He taught me that every dog learns differently and that adapting our training to suit the individual dog leads to the best results.
